In 1914, the Maserati brothers opened the Officine Alfieri Maserati in Bologna, Italy. A little over a century on, it has introduced the Ghibli and Ghibli S to Hong Kong
The Maserati brothers established their eponymous marque 14 years into the 20th century. This long tradition means that its heritage is instilled into its cars, and while its heart may be firmly rooted in Italy, its eyes are firmly focused on the future. With this in mind, the carmaker recently introduced the Ghibli and Ghibli S models to Hong Kong; they offer new advances in on-board comfort and driver assistance technology and an even higher degree of customisation thanks to the new Luxury and Sport packages.
The Ghibli is the very opposite of ordinary and embodies all the qualities for which the maker is known: performance, prestige, luxury, elegance and craftsmanship. Its pronounced grille and coupé styling is reminiscent of the iconic A6 GCS of the 1950s. The distinctive C pillar is responsible for much of the coupé-like feel, and features Maserati's trident logo, a tradition dating back to 1963. The car's profile is dominated by swaged lines on the bodywork that give it an added muscular look.
Maserati conducts more than 700 control checks for each car in production, with every component tested for endurance, quality and noise levels. With a top speed of up to 267kmh and 285 kmh for the Ghibli and Ghibli S respectively, they are powered by the acclaimed Ferrari-built Euro 6 homologated twin turbo-charged 3.0-litre V6, with the eight-speed ZF automatic transmission now featuring the Start&Stop function.
The model's interior is every bit as impressive as its exterior and is built around a driver interface that is both intuitive and uncluttered. Fine cabin craftsmanship and detailing highlight the refinement and sophistication typical of every Maserati.
The central dashboard has been redesigned to accommodate a high-resolution 8.4-inch screen with multitouch function, while a new infotainment system is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring functions. The central, lower console has also been redesigned and now hosts a rotary knob to control volume and other functions; there's also a new phone storage compartment.
Two luxury packages are introduced for customers with distinctive styles, providing an even higher degree of customisation. The Sport package includes 20-inch Urano machine polished wheels, red brake calipers, Skyhook adaptive suspension, 12-way power sport seats, and a sports steering wheel. For the Luxury package, Italy's celebrated menswear brand Ermenegildo Zegna joins the party: fine-grain leather with natural fibre Zegna Mulberry Silk inserts feature on the seats, door panels, roof lining, sunshades and ceiling light.
