Welcome to the May issue of Perspective. We're all about awards right now, with the call for entries to our annual A&D Trophy Awards and A&D China Awards, now open until June 30. Since 2004, the A&D Trophy Awards have celebrated the best in architecture, interior design and product design across the Asia-Pacific region. Last year's winners included M Moser Associates, Neri&Hu Design and Research Office, GLA-Design and Tokyo-based TD Studio. 2018 was a landmark year that saw the inaugural A&D China Awards, which proved to be an instant success: winners included Ronald Lu & Partners, Leigh & Orange and Lacime Architects. This year's awards promise to be bigger and better than ever. But first, the winners of our 40 Under 40 Awards 2019 will be announced this month. They acknowledge the best efforts of architects, interior designers, product designers and artists who are less than 40 years old. Previous winners include André Fu (AFSO), Ma Yansong (MAD Architects) and Aric Chen (Design Miami). It takes a lot of hard work to create a project worthy of one of our awards: as our readers surely know, the design professions are not for the work-shy. But architects and designers, like everyone else, need to take a break to recharge their creative batteries once in a while. In this issue, we take a look at modern resort designs and at the airport lounges that seek to improve the experience of frequent travellers. We also ask designers about their favourite travel gadgets and accessories that help to improve life on the road. Finally, for those who prefer to take their rest and relaxation a little closer to home, Perspective gets an inside look at the new Rosewood Hong Kong hotel, in Victoria Dockside, a welcome addition to the city's hospitality scene. Enjoy! Dennis Lee Managing Editor
