Today's emerging creatives are the leading forces of tomorrow. It is vital to let their visions be seen and their voices heard. This is the philosophy behind Perspective's 40 Under 40 Awards. We hosted the 13th edition of the programme on May 26 with the objective of promoting the cream of the crop across the fields of architecture, interior and product design, and art in Asia-Pacific. This year, we welcomed winners from Hong Kong, Taiwan, mainland China, Singapore, Australia, Italy and the United States. We wish them all the brightest future. It goes without saying that the future belongs to the young generation and that, of course, includes students. We take a look at the graduate exhibitions from students of architecture and design faculties from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Savannah College of Art and Design Hong Kong. It is not difficult to spot the gems and it appears some future design talent is already in the making. Looking further afield, the uncertainty of Brexit clouding Britain's economy may still be looming but it has not deterred the country from facing the challenges ahead. In this issue, we examine some of the latest developments in architecture and building in the British capital and its still-booming property market. One notable venture now developing under full steam – or redeveloping, to be exact – is the power plant-turned mixed-used project – the iconic Battersea Power Station, in the hands of WilkinsonEyre. Combining commercial, shopping and residential developments, it is going to be a major player in a purposely revitalised district of the city. At the time of going to press, the deadlines for our forthcoming A&D Trophy and China Awards were about to pass. But we are delighted to announce some of our distinguished jury members this year. They will include Piero Lissoni, Heidar Sadeki, Alan Chan, William Lim, André Fu, Tara Bernerd, Dara Huang, James Law, Alix Lawson and Viviana Muscettola and more – a good mix of male and female leading design figures from around the globe.
