‘The Venture’ is Chivas Regal’s global search to support the most promising social entrepreneurs. Five local social ventures have been selected to pitch for the opportunity to represent Hong Kong at the global finals in New York City in July, including Lala Curio. The finalists were chosen from 22 applicants who aim to succeed in business while having a positive impact on others.
Led by founder Laura Cheung, Lala Curio offers artisans and crafts-producers access to the global marketplace. Their specialities include hand-painted wall coverings and a vast selection of hand-made cloisonne tiles.
Finalists will be judged on their ability to articulate the problem their business aims to solve, as well as their ability to generate sustainable revenues by creating social or environmental solutions that have significant potential for making a positive social impact. Hong Kong's panel features local experts Jonathan Chang, Executive Director of the Lien Centre for Social Innovation, Yana Peel, CEO of Intelligence Squared, Philo Alto, CEO of Asia Value Advisors, Edwin Keh, CEO of the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textile & Apparel, and Frantz Hotton, Managing Director of Pernod Ricard Hong Kong and Macau, exclusive distributor of Chivas Regal.
With over US$1 million in funding and resources, The Venture enables social entrepreneurs from around the world to realise their potential and gain exposure for their business.
