Constantly on the quest for perfection, François-Paul Journe, the master watchmaker behind celebrated independent luxury watch brand F.P.Journe, recently unveiled the Élégante, his first exclusive collection for women

The Élégante collection features a revolutionary horological concept, with an innovative movement that took the creator eight years to develop. The exclusive movement combines the comfort of use of an electro-mechanical watch with femininity, elegance and precision — today, it is the only electro-mechanical movement conceived and created for the luxury market.

The watch has extremely precise technical specifications that prolongs the life of the watch and offers the wearer eight to 10 years of use and up to 18 years in standby mode. The watch can be stopped and started thanks to a mechanical motion detector. When the watch is not worn, it stops and goes into standby mode after 30 minutes. In standby mode, the microprocessor continues to keep time whilst the mechanical parts — the gears, rotors and hands — stop moving to conserve energy. When the Élégante is worn, it automatically sets to the current time.

All the mechanical elements of the Élégante's movement are manufactured by Journe, based on his own criteria of excellence in state-of-the-art haute horology. The novel luminescent dial of the Élégante in its titanium version recalls the shimmering surface of white mother-of-pearl, and is is fitted with a sapphire back.

The Élégante's flat tortue case and rubber bracelet perfectly embraces a woman's wrist with a sensuous feel and an ergonomic design

The Élégante's flat tortue case and rubber bracelet is both sensuous and ergonomic, available in titanium with six coloured partitions and a matching strap in white, rose, light blue, midnight blue, chocolate and khaki green. A jewelled version of the Élégante is available with a diamond set bezel and a dial that can be set with precious stones on request.
