Messe Frankfurt will host the world’s leading consumer goods trade fair, Ambiente, in Frankfurt, Germany from 12 to 16 February 2016
With last year’s event seeing over 135,000 visitors from 150 countries through its doors, the 2016 edition of Ambiente is set to surpass these figures thanks to the quality programme and calibre of goods that the fair has become known for. Split into three main sections: Dining, Living and Giving, the event will be jam-packed full of exhibitors and designers from across the globe, offering a platform for both sellers and buyers alike.
Reflecting the growing awareness from consumers of ecologically sound production and manufacturing techniques, for the first time Ambiente has identified the exhibitors whose products meet their guidelines with an ethical label. The Ethical Style Guide will take visitors straight to these stands, giving a unique overview of product ranges destined to grow in relevance.
The partner country for 2016 will be Italy, with the Italian exhibition being designed by Milanese-born Paola Navone. Part of the Partner Country programme is a comprehensive presentation of particularly well designed products from the region, offering visitors and other exhibitors the opportunity to delve a little deeper into the landscape of Italian design.
Forecasting the best of what will come from the design world in 2016, the Ambiente Trend Show will showcase a spectacular presentation of the latest trends in four themed scenarios: artisanal gardening, futuristic couture, functional simplicity and composing freedom. Identified by the trend bureau stilbüro bora.herke.palmisano, the selections are inspired by recent directions in design, art, fashion and architecture. "Ambiente is the event of the year for the consumer goods sector. In Frankfurt, exhibitors from more than 90 countries present their new products and set the trends for 2016 and beyond,” explains Nicolette Naumann, Vice President Ambiente/Tendence.
A range of other events and awards will also complement the fair. The Next programme offers young designers who have already made inroads into the business sector an arena to further develop contacts with buyers. Altogether, there are four 'Next' areas at Ambiente 2016, each with a different focal point: interior design (Loft / Hall 11.0), trendy gift articles (Young & Trendy / Hall 11.1), jewellery and fashion accessories (both at Jewellery & Accessories / Hall 9.2).
The Talents programme gives design students, university graduates and young designers the opportunity to present their work to international trade visitors, exhibitors and journalists in Frankfurt. Design Plus 2016 is a competition that celebrates innovation in design and is considered one of Germany’s leading design competitions. An international panel of experts judges consider the aesthetics and also the practical, ecological and technical qualities as well as the overall concept of the design.
