Project designers Emmanuelle Moureaux A rainbow-like stack of 12 coloured layers are visible in the façade and are
illuminated at night. Inside, three elliptical skylights bathe the interior with
light, while three glass airwells thread through the first and second levels of
the building, flooding the interior with natural light and air.

internal environment that is tempered by nature to create microclimates

Project designers Anda Yang The project involved repurposing an old building, retaining the original
floor slab and structural columns, while removing the external walls and
windows in order to 're-pack' the project. The 'origami' or paper folding
art design concept then transformed the building's appearance with
irregular surfaces.

Project designers Anda Yang The property's name, Sky Villa, provided the design inspiration, in which
landscaping and a stacked-level pool were created to make the sales centre
appear as if it is floating on water. The construction is a steel structure, while
the building and interior design sought integration and unity in technique.

Project designers Arun Kullu, Radha Muralidhara, Anuja Gupta Raas is a 1.5-acre property at the base of the Mehrangarh Fort, converting
three decrepit period structures (17th-18th century) set in a large
courtyard. New buildings served as framing elements, while old buildings
were restored with traditional craftsmen in the original materials such as
lime mortar and Jodhpur sandstone.

Project designers Mamata Shelar Angled spaces projected towards different directions are encapsulated in
an organically folded concrete skin to create a two-level building housing
shops, a food court, two restaurants, a large bar and an entertainment
gaming area. The concrete folded skin creates large open frames toward
the external views.

with nature, constructed primarily of bamboo and adapting the new
structural techniques created for sister development Green School. The
vocabulary of each home has a different floor plan, structural form and
interior finishes.

Project designers Jiaxin Chum, Li Bin, Charles Lai, Zhang Xudong, Abdul Yeung, Gu Lik Hang, Cheng Hiu Tung, Lau Hiu Yeung, Chu Ling Tang, Cheng Wai Nga Though the primary task was to repair a collapsed arch, the larger problem
was how to revitalise this once important and historic location. Ultimately,
the bridge was re-programmed as a viable public space for multifunctional
use, with concrete blocks custom designed to function as the arch
structure, surface paving, planting and seating.

Heather Powers, Jin Youyan, Chen Yiping, Tang Jinyan, Wang Jing, Guo Jing Set on a glass manufacturing and processing site, owner Shanghai Glass
selected two of the 30 buildings to become the Shanghai Museum of Glass,
the first of its kind in China. The museum covers an area of 5,500 sq-m,
housing exhibition space, a glass art gallery, workshops, a café, offices,
storage and support facilities.

Aomori City, Japan Nebuta House evolved from housing and community facilities into a
museum and centre for creative culture inspired by Aomori's Nebuta
Festival. The building is a house for mythical creatures, functionally meant
to share the tradition, archive the history and nurture the future of
Nebuta's unique cultural art form.

functions to create a more active centre for the campus. A 24-hour facility, the
main entrance of the library was conceived as an interior street, which
connects the inner plaza with the western entrance as well as the roof garden.

The predominant material of dark grey granite harmonises with the green

Project designers Elsye Alam The house 'shares' its front yard via a nearly-transparent fence, pushing
the privacy screen inward onto the façade. The highly articulated concrete
west-facing wall with rational modular perforations acts as a graphical
breathing brise-soleil, preventing overheating and filtering abstract light
qualities to transform the space between day and night.

Associates (structure), Akeno Engineering Consultants: Takahashi Kogyo The villa is designed as a vacation house, located on a steep cliff. In
responding to the terrain with convexly irregular surfaces, one simple rule
was applied - 'folding by shifting'. The manipulation enabled a rich
spatiality of three-dimensional transparencies in the architecture, with a
variety of sections.

Project designers Takashi Yamamori The differences in height between the ground, the building and the interior
spaces are a significant component of this design. The house consists of
four layers and is mostly a single volume with view lines that vary from
each of these different height, generating a dynamic interior space.
