Award name : Cityscape Middle East Real Estate Awards – Development – Residential Project Award (Future & Build)
    Award date: 2009
Awarded by: Cityscape Middle East Real Estate Awards

The design of this potentially tallest residential building in the world was a result of two pressing factors: the high density of the neighbourhood and the unique environment pressures of Dubai. Designed by Andrew Bromberg, Executive Director, the 111,000 square metre tower stands at a staggering 518 metres and is set to be completed in 2012. It responses to the surrounding modern neighbourhood of Dubai Marina, which is a ménage of mega buildings and lofty skyscrapers.

To cope with the extreme environmental issues of wind and solar heating on the exposed southern side of the 170-unit building, a vertical layering of glass was designed to wrap around the building to draw away solar gain and protects the building and balconies from the high-velocity winds at extreme heights.

Apart from this award, the Pentominium has already won five design awards which are ‘Best Apartment’, ‘Best Development’, ‘Best Architecture’, ‘Best Property’ and ‘Best High-Rise Architecture’ at the 2007 CNBC Arabian Property Awards.
