YOU ARE ART! is currently showing in Shanghai and features work by both Andy Warhol and Mimmo Rotella set amid a new concept art space

The exhibition is located inside the new Mosaic Mall in the historic part of the city and endeavours to create a different kind of visiting experience. Giraldi Associati Architetti (GAA) designed the space to be hugely interactive using a range of digital technologies to engage visitors.

YOU ARE ART! displays 44 works by Italian artist Mimmo Rotella who is credited with starting the Mec Art movement in Europe. Original artworks by Andy Warhol are also being exhibited, with the hope that guests will be able to draw similarities between the two great masters. Themes such as mass communication and advertising definitely link the two, crossing continents and boundaries while doing so.

To heighten the experience of the viewing process, GAA opted to show all of the Rotella works on walls that are entirely black. This contrasts the Warhol section that has been mounted on opposing white walls. A dynamic use of lighting has been used throughout the exhibition in a bid to allude to the 60s and 70s when both artists were working.
