Forty young talents from the fields of architecture, art, fashion/accessories, graphic/new media, interiors and products have been recognised at architecture and design magazine Perspective's 40 Under 40 awards

Back for its ninth edition, Hong Kong's premier architecture and design magazine Perspective celebrated art and design excellence at the presentation ceremony of the 40 Under 40 young talent recognition awards on 28 April 2015. Held at the Pacific Coffee Emporium, Fashion Walk, Causeway Bay, Perspective's 40 Under 40 awards honoured 40 future leaders of Asia's design industry under the age of 40 from six design fields — architecture, art, fashion/accessories, graphic/new media, interiors and products.

According to Perspective, the final 40 were chosen based on professional achievements, contributions to the industry, and potential for future development and growth. Consideration was also given to any awards won, participation in industry events as a speaker, panelist, or judge (where applicable), and contributions to society.

"Nine years ago, Perspective's editors selected 40 young creative talents for our very first 40 Under 40 awards," said Perspective Limited's publisher and executive director Nigel Oakins. "Over the years, we have spotted many of today's hottest design stars — including none other than one of our sponsors, Barrie Ho, who was in that very first batch of 40 young stars chosen back in 2007, and is today not only hugely successful, but also one of our longest-standing supporters."

Suzanne Miao, editorial director of Perspective Limited echoed the joy in seeing former winners of the awards grow and shine in the design industry. "Since 40 Under 40 was launched by Perspective in 2007, we have watched many of our honourees become award-winning professionals in their fields. For example, two of our 2012 winners, Andrei Zerebecky and Lukasz Kos, were so motivated that they left full-time jobs to concentrate on their newly-founded company Four O Nine in Shanghai. They now successfully handle major projects on an international scale — and our support of them continued when we invited them to join the judging panel for our A&D Trophy Awards last year, too."

Gracing the 40 Under 40 awards celebrations were some of these past winners, award presenters and sponsors. They include Barrie Ho, MH, director and founder of Barrie Ho Architecture & Interiors Limited, Denise Lau, executive director of BSC Colourliving Limited, Marcus Liu, founder of Lazy Hog, Monita Leung, head of sales and marketing of HKT Premier and Sheroal Chung, marketing and promotions manager of Hang Lung Properties.
