HKIDA hosts Master Talk and 24th Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards

Hong Kong Interior Design Association (HKIDA) has recently held both Master Talk 2016 and the 24th Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards (APIDA) ceremony at Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre

For Master Talk 2016, speakers presented on themes that inspire interior design practitioners and students, sharing valuable knowledge and work experience on topics such as Human Environment Needs, Design, Products & Materials, Communication, Interior Construction, Codes & Regulations and also Professional Practice.

This year, the Master Talk featured speakers from different regions, including Caroline Bos, co-founder and principal urban planner of UNStudio in Holland; Caroline Sohie, architecture director for INSTINCT in UK; Patrick Leung, founder and principal Design of P A L Design Group in Hong Kong; Kung Shu Chang, professor and director of the Graduate Institute of Architecture, NTCU Taiwan, and chairman of Board of Chinese Association of Interior Designers in Taiwan; Shigeru Kubota, president of Kubota Architect & Associates Inc. in Japan; and Louie. T. Navarro, Co-founder of IB Design Group Inc. in Philippines.

"It is exciting to see over 220 participants join the Master Talk 2016. The event provides extensive opportunities for interior designers and students to share their own experiences and personal perspectives on the body of knowledge issues that matter in today's design world," said Antony Chan, chairman of HKIDA.

After Master Talk 2016, HKIDA presented the 24th Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards (APIDA) ceremony where award-winners received their prizes across 13 categories. Over 300 guests were in attendance at the event with APIDA recognising interior design talents throughout the Asia Pacific region.

"APIDA 2016 received over 630 submissions from the Asia Pacific regions including those from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Macau and Indonesia, etc. Once again, APIDA attained new standards and will no doubt set design trends in the region," said Enoch Hui, chairman of APIDA 2016.
