Coco Chu

Senior project interior designer HOK (HONG KONG)
Born in Hong Kong, Coco Chu later moved to Vancouver, where she studied English literature and art history at the University of British Columbia. Venturing into the field of interior design was a coincidence, as her first job was as a librarian: "I was then not sure what and where to begin after university graduation, and this title seemed interesting enough for a start," she says. "Those familiar with the industry, would have known that an interior [firm] librarian dealt with piles and piles of drawing archives, material samples and catalogues, which built for me a concrete foundation of knowledge, dots and lines."

"As the scope of the area I am in charge of grows in scale, [it is] easier for me to see how the dots are joined and lines are woven where a spatial narrative falls into place."001935_img_file_5c6eb08cd3d17_04
