    New Star Catering Group is a Chinese seafood hotpot restaurant commissioned our design team to renovate its first China branch restaurant situated in G/f, 2/f to 4/f of a multi-use building in Shenzhen, China. With an outlet store located in 1/f floor of the site, the spatial experience from G/f main entrance to 2/f’s banquet hall was disturbed by using escalators. The challenge was to invent a way to draw people get into the restaurant. Despite of redesigning the façade, a food kiosk was replaced by a main entrance lobby. Escalators were replaced by a refurbished lift lobby acting as a main access to the restaurant. ...Collapse

    The design solution uses an enclosed, well lit and air-ventilated tunnel as a transitional space to attract people get in the lift lobby to the 3/f banquet hall in contrast to the stereotype of design focusing on seating area surfaces. The design emphasis also includes the 3/f entrance doorway to banquet hall as well as the 4/f waiting area to VIPs rooms. ...Collapse
