Hong Kong architect Gary Chang sees renovating his own apartment as a 30 year-long experimental project, and an ongoing study of extremely tight living conditions – a global phenomenon in which more and more people are living in high-density, hyper-urbanised environments. Measuring just 32 square-metres and strikingly minimal, the reinvented pad is highlighted by the malleability of space to maximize spatial efficiency. By changing the configurations, the single volume can easily transform into living room, bedroom, dining room, office, lounge and cinema. This year, Chang will be getting ready for his seventh home improvement.
