    The black box was modeled conceptually after the "Black Box" flight data recorder. The top 4 floors of this new office space represents the conversation, ideas, thinking and research very much like the flight crew's conversation on an airplane. The black box also protects that recording in the event of a crash, fire or tragedy. The black box offers poignant, relevant and passionate design ideas with meaning and purpose to clients who have had to face design tragedies in their lives. The ground floor in the form of a retail store displays some of these stored ideas over time. ...Collapse

    The offices will be composed of various volumes defining our different spaces. Two wooden boxes make up the base of the building, one being a new retail store and the other leading up to the respective offices. The reception area between reads as an extension of the street. Along Yuqing Road, the dark façade of this new office is extruded and ‘cut’ to reveal windows into the building. Within the new retail store, the wooden box is ‘cut’ to reveal white boxes that frame the main display area. At the 3rd floor, one enters through an oak-finished box, beyond which is an open office. Private offices will be contained within glass walls. The two-storied 4th and 5th floor space is connected vertically with openings and horizontally with a bridge. The conference room consists of two stacked boxes, a wooden box atop a white box. The room is visible from the upper level through an opening alongside the bridge. ...Collapse
