Conrad Maldives Rangali Island opens first underwater hotel in Maldives

Conrad Hotels & Resorts has opened THE MURAKA two-level residence at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, where guests can live both above and below the surface of the Indian Ocean. On the sea floor is the bedroom, bathroom and living space, while above the waves are spaces for living, dining, entertaining and sleeping.

"The completion of THE MURAKA is a personal lifetime achievement," said Ahmed Saleem, a Director at Crown Company and chief architect and designer of the residence. "After years in the making, my team and I are proud to officially present THE MURAKA residence and its accompanying Maldivian experience to worldly travelers who crave the extraordinary."

The resort has also invested US$8.3 million in redeveloping 42 Deluxe Beach Villas that opened in November, designed by Yuji Yamazaki.World's first underwater hotel in Maldives opens"Our philosophy of innovation is supported by several triumphs at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island," said Stefano Ruzza, General Manager of Conrad Maldives Rangali Island.
