Jean Nouvel partners with Thierry Despont on 53W53 in New York City

Pritzker Prize-winner Jean Nouvel has collaborated with acclaimed interior achitect Thierry Despont to create 53W53 (www.53w53.com) in Manhattan

Located in Midtown next to Fifth Avenue and The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the 1,050 sq-ft high 53W53 residence by Pritzker Prize-winner Jean Nouvel and interior achitect Thierry Despont redefines Manhattan’s skyline and the city’s high living.

A distinctive tower with tapered silhouette of gently angled surfaces, the 82-storey structure overlooks Central Park with a panoramic view. It features a robust yet delicate network of angular concrete elements in an efficient structural system. Each segment follows its own geometry, and the overall tower reaches great height with minimum number of interior columns.

Specially crafted by interior architect Thierry Despont, who has decorated residences throughout the world including Calvin Klein’s and Bill Gates’, the building is sophisticated and contemporary in style to accompany the distinctive exteriors. "Every apartment has been designed to enhance and respect the architecture of Jean Nouvel," notes Despont.

The kitchen is highlighted with custom back-painted glass cabinetry with polished nickel detailing designed by Thierry Despont for Molteni and back-lit statuary marble backsplash.

The master bathroom is decorated with Peruvian golden polished travertine feature walls, carved limestone vanity sinks and custom Thierry Despont-designed nickel automated mirrors
