The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) has released the events that it has planned for 2016, the year which will see the organisation’s 60th anniversary
To celebrate the milestone anniversary year, HKIA will organise a series of events and activities to both reveal the skills of its members and to enhance public interest in the work of architects throughout Hong Kong. As well as the events, president of HKIA Vincent Ng, has designed a commemorative logo to mark the anniversary, presenting a refreshed image for the institute by incorporating a colourful combination of traditional drawing tools that are used by architects.
Major events that will take place throughout the year will include the HKIA Annual Awards and Exhibition in June which will showcase works from the past 60 years. The society will also have representatives at the 2016 Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition with a response exhibition being held in Hong Kong in early 2017.
Towards the end of the year, an extensive show will take place at ArtisTree in Taikoo Place. This exhibition will showcase the artistic talents of many of the members from HKIA, while engaging the community in a range of architecture- and design-related workshops.
A selection of other events including the 60th Anniversary Ball, the HKIA Sports and Family Day and the launch of the organisation’s 60th Anniversary publication will also take place throughout the year. A full listing of dates and events can be found at www.hkia.net/60anniversary.
