Leading figures to discuss urban conservation at the Perspective 40 Under 40 Awards 2019 Forum
As part of our 40 Under 40 Awards programme for 2019, Perspective will once again host a forum prior to the awards ceremony. This year's topic – 'Heritage in Hong Kong: trend, benefit or burden?' – covers the conservation of Hong Kong's built heritage and its significance to not just those in the profession but the community in general.
The format will include individual presentations by each speaker followed by a discussion among the panellists and an audience question-and-answer session. Speakers include Sujata S Govada, founder & managing director, UDP International; Emily Verla Bovino, PhD, Professor of Art and Architectural History, SCAD Hong Kong; Edward Leung, Chair, Heritage and Conservation Committee, Hong Kong Institute of Architects; Winnie Yeung, Head of Heritage Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts; and Ray Zee, lead architect at the Nan Fung Group for The Mills revitalisation project. The forum will be moderated by Roger Wu, chairman, RIBA Hong Kong Chapter.
This year's topic – 'Heritage in Hong Kong: trend, benefit or burden?
Topic points for the session will focus on recent heritage and revitalisation projects, such as the Tai Kwun complex in Central, The Mills in Tsuen Wan and Haw Par Mansion in Tai Hang. An audience of more than 100 is expected, including this year's winners, award alumni, thought leaders and designers.
